Hi! My name is Rebecca Roy and I am a Manchester based poet who writes largely from personal experience (gross) to explore themes of family, identity and (a)sexuality*. I also write about space quite a bit, because space is fucking cool.
I was born and grew up in Bristol, and moved to Manchester after a four year layover in Cardiff, which may go some way towards mitigating my Southern Toff-ness; I don’t know, that’s for you to judge.
I have performed my work widely, as both a featured poet and regular open miccer, and my publication credits include Tŷ Celf and Riggwelter Press. I have also facilitated multiple creative writing and zine making workshops up and down the country, and at various festivals.
*Asexuality is defined as ‘the lack of sexual attraction to anyone, or low or absent interest in sexual activity’. For anyone needing more information please refer to: The Asexual Visibility and Education Network
